In her emotionally
charged and absolutely incomparable "Victoriandustrial"
style, studded with killer beats and spattered
with violins and harpsichords, Emilie Autumn
mesmerizes us once more with her album-lenth
double feature EP, "Girls Just
Wanna Have Fun & Bohemian Rhapsody."
Never one to play by the rules,
Emilie Autumn ignores the standard release schedule
established by other artists, and offers up
her deliciously ironic renditions of two of
the most notorious songs of all time, Cyndi
Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,"
and Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody."
To the tune of this badass, broken-doll burlesque,
the doors are opening, the inmates have escaped,
and revenge is just around the corner...
While shamelessly showing off
her bizarrely wide vocal range and ability to
reproduce the famous Brian May guitar solo note
for note on her electric violin, Emilie Autumn's
Asylum world becomes ever more real for us with
every note, and by injecting her perverse brand
of humor into the deadliest of subjects, Emilie
Autumn turns the gothic/industrial world on
its head, and it's about damned time.
